Now, for those of you who are too young to know what I'm talking about, this is what it sounds like. Yeah, that universal sound of money. Now, before we get started, I want to mention something that happened this weekend. Besides me getting a little sick and being under the weather, I received an email from a Dimples Nationer. She wrote, Her grandparents came in on the second half of the Dimples Spotlight episode on Lena Horn. They were able to answer the trivia questions without even hearing the first half of the show. They remembered a part about Humphrey Bogart fighting against racism on Lena Horn, and they really, really loved the dedicated song Man, Dimples Nation, I have to say, that really made me feel good. So good, before I get started, I have decided to play the Lena Horn song one more time.

Our first is the NFL, where congratulations are in order. Here's a hint why. Los Angeles Chargers quarterback, Justin Herbert, the Dimpled franchise quarterback, is officially engaged. Herbert announced his engagement, giving Chargers fans something to celebrate before the season even kicks off. From all of us at Dimples Nation, we wish Justin and his fiance a lifetime filled with love, laughter, and of course, plenty of dimples. Now, let's stay with the good news because here on The Dimple Report, we love celebrating milestones achieved by members of the Dimples Nation. History has just been made by Grammy Award-winning singer Times, whose beautiful cheek dimples have become part of her signature smile. Timms have become the first African female artist to earn a diamond certification for her contribution to the global hit Wait for You. That's an incredible accomplishment and another reminder that members of the Dimples Nation continue to make history in music, sports, entertainment, business, and beyond. Congratulations to Tim's from all of us at the Dimple Report and National Dimple State. Keep making history. And finally, great news for comic books and movie fans. I'll give you a hint. Marsden's unmistakable cleft chin has always made him look like he stepped right out of the comic books. And fans are excited to see him put the visor back on once again. It's always great to see a familiar dimple face return to one of Hollywood's most beloved superhero franchises. Those are this week's Dimples in the Headlines.

I love everyone except a very specific group of people. They make my my skin itch, irritate my soul. It does all boil down to the fact that I'm hating. But it doesn't matter because I can't stand them. And that group of people, those are people with dimples. The first reason is when you're talking to a person, just having a regular conversation with a person with dimples. They don't look you head on. They turn just enough for you to get a clear shot of the dimple. There's no winning an argument with a person who has a dimple. No matter what I say back, no matter even if I'm in tears, I'm always gonna be the bad guy because they look like cherub angels next to me.

Welcome back, everyone. It's time once again for our Dimple Spotlight, where we celebrate remarkable people whose achievements deserve just as much recognition as their famous dimples or cleft chin. Today, we're stepping back into the late 1800s to meet a man whose invention quietly changed businesses around the world. His name? It's James Ritti, R.I. T T Y. And if you ever stood in line waiting to pay for groceries, bought a movie ticket, or purchased just about anything from a store, you've seen the lasting impact of his work. James Ritti, R.I. T T Y was born in Ohio in 1837 and later became the owner of a busy saloon in Dayton. Like many business owners of the time, he had one frustrating problem. Money kept disappearing. He suspected that employees were helping themselves to cash from the register drawer, but proving it wasn't easy. During a steamship trip across the Atlantic, Ritti, R-I, T T Y, noticed a machine that counted the revolutions of the ship's propeller. That simple mechanical counter sparked an incredible idea. What if a machine can count sales instead of revolutions? Back home, he worked with his brother John and developed the world's first practical cash register. It became known as Ritti's Incorruptible Cashier. The machine didn't just record transactions, it helped discourage theft, increased accountability, and gave business owners confidence that every cell was being counted. Eventually, Riti, R-I-T-T-Y, sold the rights to the invention. The company that followed would later become National Cash Register Company, better known as NCR, one of the most influential business technology companies in history. Today, nearly every checkout lane, cash register, and point of sale system owes something to James Ritti's original idea. And yes, the man who helped protect businesses around the world also happened to have a distinctive cleft chin, earning him a well-deserved place here on the Dipper Report. James Ritti, R-I, T T Y, reminds us that sometimes the biggest innovations begin with one simple question. How can I solve this problem? And for millions of businesses around the world, he certainly did. Now, it's time to grab your pen and a piece of paper because after this commercial break, you know what time it is.
